Female Voices on the Future of Sharks
Indian Ocean, Maldives | Open Circuit | 25-40m | 2024
Women are leading the way in shark conservation. At the UN Ocean Conference 2025 in Nice, France, SharkProject International hosted a side event to spotlight the intersection of female empowerment and ocean advocacy—bringing together voices that are too often underrepresented in both fields.
As part of this initiative, female cinematographers were invited to contribute footage of a single species, collectively showcasing both the diversity of sharks and the range of voices behind the camera.
This project is rooted in collaboration. From scientists to advocates, and the filmmakers behind the lens, it reflects a shared vision of a more inclusive and impactful future in a still male-dominated space. Solidarity is not optional—it is urgent.
Within just two weeks, the campaign reached over 59,000 views, generating more than 48 hours of watch time, alongside strong engagement across platforms—and it continues to grow.
